v. 29, i. 1493 (1867-05-05), p. 6: congress summary, with preliminary problem tourney results.

N:

The closing date for the tourney has not been found in the source material: it has been taken from the congress book, and is there expressed as 'Monday, 15th prox.', but without any further date details. However, during the first half of 1867, April is the only month that fits this format.

Six sets were received and reprinted in the congress book. Verification of the first-prize winning problem was done by publication in the local papers. (The account in The Era (as above) differs slightly: seven sets are said to have been received.)
