The preliminary problem tourney requirements provided the information stated above. It was planned to be held as part of the 6th congress of
the Westdeutsche Schachbund in Düsseldorf.
On 15 May, 1866, the Westdeutsche Schachbund decided not to hold
the congress due to the warlike conditions of the
country. (Prussian military mobilizations had been ordered in the
immediately preceding weeks, and the Austro-Prussian war would begin a month later.)
The problem tourney was still planned to be held, however, and
conditions were to be published shortly.
No further information about the problem tourney has been found.
